Northern Plains would like to take a moment to honor the memory of a friend of the company, Marshall Buehler. Marshall had a deep love for trains and railroad history, a passion that shaped many of his life’s adventures and friendships. He generously volunteered his time at several nonprofit tourist railroads, serving as a conductor on steam excursions and working in First Class as a car host, where he enjoyed helping passengers experience the magic and history of rail travel.
When he wasn’t helping others enjoy railroading, Marshall traveled extensively by train throughout Europe, Central and South America, and across the United States and Canada. One of his most memorable journeys was riding the Trans-Siberian Express from one end of Russia to the other.
As a tribute to Marshall and his love of trains, Northern Plains Railroad has made a contribution to the Lake Superior Railroad and requested that his name be placed in their historic train yard. It is a small way to honor a man whose enthusiasm for railroads, dedication to preserving their history, and kindness toward others will be remembered by all who knew him.
