Northern Plains Rail Services offers short-line and industrial railways support to ensure operations are effective and in compliance with prescribed regulations and safe industry operating practices.

Our training is utilized by customers and other railroads alike. We offer training in all areas of rail operations, track structure, locomotive operation and service, and rail car and track inspection.

We offer hazardous materials training as it applies to Code of Federal Regulations 172.704, 173.31, and 174 for both railroads and industry shippers.

Railroads

We offer Hazardous Material training for railroads as it applies to railroad operations and a complex review of the United States Hazardous Material Instruction for Rail Manual with table-top exercises of placement and switching restrictions for a hands-on learning experience, along with testing and certification.

Shippers

We offer training packages to provide certification of all parts of the Code of Federal Regulations 172.704 for management and workforce personnel. Record keeping, One-time-movement approvals (OTMA) and waybill requirements for office personnel, and classroom and field exercises which include a comprehensive review of all components of a railroad tank car and pre-transportation inspections for your loaders or un-loaders.
